We look at the vehicle you actually have, then give you a quote. Weight, the metals in it, the catalytic converter, whether it runs, and how complete it is are the things that usually affect that figure. This is not a price list, and we do not publish pound amounts here because they go stale and they are not honest for every car.

We say that in 99% of cases we pay what we quote. We do not expect a brand-new car. If the vehicle is not as described when we see it, we will say so before we take it.
What usually affects the quote?
The quote is usually about what can be recovered from the vehicle, plus how straightforward it is to collect. The points below are general industry factors, not a Leeds Scrap Cars tariff.

Does weight matter?
Yes. A heavier vehicle usually contains more metal, and metal is a large part of a scrap value.
That is why a large van and a small city car are not quoted the same, even if both have failed an MOT. We still need the registration to look at the specific vehicle.
What about the catalytic converter?
The catalytic converter can make a noticeable difference, because of the metals inside it.
If it is still on the car, say so. If it has already been removed, say that too — the quote should reflect the vehicle as it is, not as it used to be.
Do other metals change the figure?
They can. As well as the steel body, vehicles contain other metals in engines, wiring, radiators and similar parts. Completeness matters here as much as the metal type.
This page is not a metals market report. Prices move, which is another reason we quote on the vehicle in front of us rather than putting a chart on the website.
Is a runner worth more than a non-runner?
Sometimes. A car that drives can be simpler to collect and may have more than scrap value. A non-runner is still a car we will buy.
Tell us if it starts, if it drives, or if access is awkward. We collect non-runners, MOT failures and accident-damaged vehicles. Collection is usually the same day.
A runner is not automatically a high quote, and a non-runner is not automatically a low one. Weight, parts and completeness still sit in the same conversation.
Does it matter if parts are missing?
Yes. A complete vehicle is usually worth more than one that has been stripped.
Missing engines, gearboxes, wheels, cats or body sections change what is left. GOV.UK also notes that an ATF can charge a fee if essential parts have already been removed before the vehicle is scrapped — see how to scrap your vehicle. If it is an abandoned project, be straight about what is still on it. We still buy those.
Do you pay cash?
No. For a vehicle that is being scrapped in England or Wales, it is illegal to pay in cash. GOV.UK says you have to be paid by bank transfer or cheque.
We pay by bank transfer. Ask at quote stage if you need to be paid by cheque instead.

How do I get an actual figure?
Send your vehicle registration and postcode. Add a line about condition if you can — MOT fail, crash damage, no runner, no log book, awkward access.
