What do people ask before they scrap a car?

Short answers first, then the detail. If your question is “will you still take it?”, the answer is usually yes — tell us the registration, the postcode, and what is wrong with the vehicle.

My vehicle has failed its MOT — will you still buy it?

Yes. We buy vehicles with or without an MOT, and we can collect an MOT failure straight from the MOT station.

You do not need to get it repaired first. Put the registration and the MOT station postcode on the form if it is still there, or ring us and we will arrange collection.

My vehicle does not run — will you still buy it?

Yes. We buy vehicles whether they run or not.

Tell us it is a non-runner when you ask for a quote, especially if it cannot be rolled or is in an awkward position. Collection is usually the same day.

Can you collect my vehicle?

Yes. We collect scrap cars across Leeds and Yorkshire.

In most cases we can collect the same day. Drop-off is also available at Unit 2, 14a Whitehall Road, Drighlington, BD11 1NE. We have collected vehicles from awkward positions — if access is tight, say so up front.

My vehicle is crash damaged — will you still buy it?

Yes. We will buy a vehicle in that condition. Accident damage does not stop a quote.

We buy crash-damaged cars, vans and plant. Photos in the message field help if the damage is severe, but they are not required to start a quote.

I have not got the log book — is that a problem?

No. We can still buy the vehicle and we will notify DVLA that ownership has transferred.

If you do have the V5C, keep the yellow “sell, transfer or part-exchange your vehicle to the motor trade” section. GOV.UK says to tell DVLA you have taken the vehicle to an ATF, and that you can be fined £1,000 if you do not. We contact DVLA and complete the paperwork. How would you pay me?

By bank transfer. We do not pay cash for scrap vehicles.

In England and Wales it is illegal to be paid in cash if your vehicle is scrapped. GOV.UK says payment has to be by bank transfer or cheque. If you need a cheque rather than a transfer, ask when we quote.

Can you collect the same day?

Yes, in most cases. Same-day collection is what we aim for across Leeds and Yorkshire.

It depends on where the vehicle is and how busy the day is. Give us the postcode with the registration so we can be honest about timing.

Which areas do you cover?

Leeds and Yorkshire. We collect across that area, and you can drop a vehicle to us in Drighlington.

Can I drop the car off instead?

Yes. Drop-off is available.

Do you buy vans and plant, or only cars?

We buy road-registered cars, vans and plant.

If it is road-registered and you want it gone, ask. Abandoned projects are fine too.

How do I get a quote?

Send your name, phone, email, vehicle registration, postcode and a short message on the quote form. Or ring 0113 460 1864.

The message is the place to mention a non-runner, MOT fail, missing log book, crash damage, or awkward access. We say that in 99% of cases we pay what we quote.
